Concert of the Wolds

Nationally acclaimed concert orchestra, Sinfonia Viva will kick-off the Tour of the Wolds weekend with an unmissable concert at St James' Church, Louth on Friday April 7th 2017.

Join the Grammy nominated Sinfonia Viva for a concert of orchestral classics. Featuring some of the most beautiful and beloved music you could ever hope to hear and taking place in the wonder of St James Church Louth. A wonderful and spectacular setting, to ring in the spring time and celebrate the start of The Tour of the Wolds.

Featuring one of Mozart's most iconic and recognisable pieces Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K 525 Allegro, a classical piece that will have you humming and toe tapping from the very start. Also featuring Tchycovsky's Serenade for Strings, a piece that was directly influenced by Mozart and his form of the classical sonatina.

These pieces truly are essential classics in the most traditional sense, having been created by two of the most renowned and well known composers of all time.

The concert will also pieces from a slightly more contemporary canon, which demonstrate some of the most stirring music made in the 20th century. Featuring Alexander Arutiunian's Concerto for Violin and Samuel Barber's evocative and stirring masterpiece Adagio for Strings. Arutiunian's piece is a masterclass in musical bravado and brilliance, whilst Barber's epic and emotive piece is possibly his most well-known piece of music. Featuring a stirring and emotional rising melody, this piece was made even more famous from its inclusion in Oliver Stone's film Platoon and countless other film's and television shows.
