Children learn to swim

/ Health & Fitness

Mums visiting Meridian’s pool will be making sure their youngsters learn to swim this summer – and they say other parents should too!

Jack Wilson is just five and is already working towards his Swim Stage 3 award – and with crash course booked at Meridian during the summer holidays, his mum is delighted:

“Swimming is a life skill, and vital – but it is also about confidence-building, Jack is quite shy and so this is great,” she said.

Meanwhile, former national swimmer Caroline Speed, regularly visits the pool with her children Sophie, six, and Seb, four.

As a teenager, Caroline was one of the best swimmers for her respective age group in the country. While she does not necessarily want or expect her children to do the same, she certainly wants them to be confident in the water.

“I agree, it is a life skill and you want to ensure your children are safe, in the sea or in a holiday pool,” she said.

Sophie is currently at Swim Stage 6, with Seb taking his first level.
