Our very own Mermaid

/ Leisure

Magna Vitae would like to congratulate our Waterwise swimmer Aimee Hewson.

Aimee started swimming lessons, as a non-swimmer, earlier this year in May. Her family had booked a holiday for the summer and she wanted to be able to swim. Throughout the following months Aimee progressed from stage one to stage four, during this time Aimee had seen our new class Fin2Fit advertised and wanted to get involved. She soon found out that she would need to progress to stage 5 to join these classes.

At the beginning of the summer holidays Aimee decided to participate in the crash swimming courses, this consisted of five lessons, one every day for a week. Aimee’s commitment and determination saw her fly into stage five. Since then Aimee has joined Fin2Fit and progressed into stage seven in her swimming lessons.

Aimee really enjoys Fin2Fit, “I get to be a mermaid and it’s really fun.”

Since joining Fin2Fit Aimee has overcome obstacles but has not them slow her down. The most difficult one being handstands with a fin on.

Aimee’s Fin2Fit swimming teacher Katherine Brown is immensely proud of her.
“Aimee is very passionate about what she does, takes everything in her stride and doesn’t let the little things get in her way. She is a pleasure to teach and should be very proud of what she has achieved so far.”

Aimee would like to join Louth Swimming Club one day and compete professionally. We are sure that with the determination and progress that she has shown so far that this will be possible in the near future.

Well done Aimee. We hope to hear more about your progression over the next year!
