Horncastle Fitness Suite has it all – with a friendly team of fully-trained lifestyle consultants on hand to help and advise you every step of the way.
It’s new suite opened less than a year ago, with the very latest Technogym kit – some of the best on the world market today. But what if you are a first-timer, or maybe coming back from an injury or a period of non-exercise, what is for you?
Let Lifestyle Consultant Richard Milburn put your mind at ease: “We are such a friendly bunch here, like one big family and we have something for everyone with expert advice where needed, you only have to ask,” he said.
So, what about the equipment – let Richard take you through the ‘ins-and-outs’ of Horncastle’s fantastic offer in our step to step guide.
As a first-timers recommendation, so what equipment is best?
The Hand Cycle/ Organometer: This is a cardio-vascular workout for the upper body and core muscles. It doesn’t work the lower body and therefore is fantastic for those who have upper or lower leg injuries or problems. The great thing about this too is that it is wheelchair friendly.
But what do the users think themselves? On hand to try out the hand cycle was 74-year-old John Sheehan who moved up to Horncastle from the south a year ago. “After surgery I needed to get back into keeping fit and how I used to be – as a younger man I was a boxer and footballer. Coming here is taking me back to how I used to feel, and I am determined to carry on,” said John.
The Recumbent Cycle: Ideal for those suffering from back problems, this cycle offers added lumbar support – with another bonus being the flat bottom, meaning you don’t have to raise your legs to get on and off. The seat is adjustable and comfortable too, making it ideal for those who are looking to lose weight. Offering a cardio vascular work-out, it is a great place to start.
