AS the years pass by, keeping in good health is one of the most important things anyone can do to continue to ‘look great, feel great and live a great life’!
Here in East Lindsey we do have some worrying health statistics to contend with. For instance, do you know that the life expectancy across East Lindsey is lower than the national average – with levels of excess weight and deaths from cardiovascular disease both being higher than the UK average.
These are sobering figures indeed – but we can change them around, and here at Magna Vitae we want to help YOU make that change… there are many of you who are already doing just that.
Maureen & Carol’s stories
Read their stories and you will know why YOU should come along to our centres in Louth, Horncastle, Skegness and Mablethorpe and start to make that change.
*Maureen Groombridge, 76, travels from Woodhall Spa to swim at Horncastle’s Pool three times a week. A former fan of playing tennis and golf, her life was restricted when she was struck down by sciatica. Surgery had been a real option that Maureen wanted to avoid, but she needed to act to relieve the terrible pain in her lower back.
“It is fantastic having this facility here – and let’s face it, if we don’t use it we will lose it,” said Maureen.
Maureen was also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and the doctor told her she would have to go on tablets, but she resisted, instead losing a stone in weight, cutting out sugar and starting a regular pattern of exercise.
“You just have to do it,” she said.
Meanwhile Maureen’s swimming buddy, Carol Dunford, 65, was also struck down with sciatica 10 years ago. She swims with friends at Horncastle pool and the exercise has relieved her symptoms like no medication could: “I bent down to pick up a Christmas present and that was it. But for a trapped nerve, you must keep moving and the older you get, the more important that is too. I love coming here and I believe this facility is absolutely wonderful,” she says.
